Our sunset ANZAC Service was once again a wonderful success, uniting our community in remembrance of those who have sacrificed so much. With perfect weather and an exceptional attendance, it was an opportunity to reflect on the courage, dedication and selflessness of our servicemen and women, both past and present.
Special thanks to the following for being part of the service;
- Mr Richard Williams for a poignant ANZAC Address
- Brisbane Water Brass Band – again an integral part of our service with special mention to Kindi Smith for the playing of the Last Post and Reveille – hair raising
- Vivienne McLaren – for her wonderful singing
- Mitchell and Taylor Crowther – Acknowledgement of Country
- Craig White – reading of the prayer
- Nadine Norman- delivering the Ode
- Geoff Dominguez – Raising of the Flag
Thank you to club members who assisted with setting-up and packing away chairs and equipment with special mention to Tim Morris, Spencer Morris, Pete McNeill, Noel Walkinshaw, Angus Crowe, Graham Johnston, Geoff Dominguez and Suzie Morris who again was everywhere taking photos. Thanks to Tom, our Bar Manager and the bar staff for handling the large crowd.
Last but not least to my biggest helper Pat who does so much behind the scenes to make our ANZAC Service so special – from compiling and printing the program, helping with set-up, poppy displays, sourcing rosemary, inviting dignitaries and much more.
Wreaths were laid by;
- Dr Gordon Reid – MP Robertson
- Lucy Wicks – Candidate for Robertson
- Adam Crouch – State Member Terrigal
- Nicholas Sneddon, Ethan Staniland, Lois Waller and Anita McGrath – MacMasters Beach SLSC
